Chapter 13


They were laying on her couch together he had pulled her on top of him so they could be a little more comfortable not to mention he really just wanted to kiss her without have to bend his body in ways that it shouldn’t bend.

“Max” Lacy said in between kisses. Over the past week or so they had spent a lot of time together doing just this but every time it kept getting further and further along. But she would always stop it before it got to far.

“hmmm” he said as he moved his way down her neck.

She was really getting to the point where she didn’t want to stop but she couldn’t get the picture out of her head. She was terrified if she gave him what he wanted he would just go back to his old ways…The words wam bam thank you mam kept playing in her head.

“Max…stop”

He did as she asked but just looked at her. She was driving him slowly crazy just like she did when they were younger. He was starting to think that she was doing this on purpose. Not to mention he wasn’t used to not having sex when he wanted.

“What is it Lac”

“Nothing I just don’t want to….” She had to stop and think how she was going to put this.

“…I just don’t want to rush into that”

He knew why she was saying this. He had a reputation and she knew all about it. He had to show her that he was telling her the truth and he meant he wanted her. They had this conversation a couple times since that first dinner.

“Lac. I’m not going to leave you”

She nodded wanting desperately to believe it. She wanted it badly. There were so many things going through her mind. She knew that Max knew that she said she never got over him but she didn’t think he understood to what extent. She didn’t date after Max, there were no other random hookups in college after Max, there was nothing she was 24 and had never gone any further than she was doing with Max right now. Not to mention she kept thinking about his reputation.

“Lacy”

“Huh”

“Did you hear me”

“Yea”

He knew right then and there that she wasn’t going to budge on that and he pushed himself up so that he was sitting up just like she had.

“You look tired”

“I am”

“Lets you get to bed then” Max let Lacy get up and walked with her to her room .He really didn’t want to leave …even if he wasn’t going to get any he wanted to be as close to her as she would let him.

Lacy went into her bathroom to change since Max decided to walk into her bedroom with her. Meanwhile he took a seat on her bed and made himself comfortable. He was in sweats already because he had come straight from rehab to her place. He had made up his mind that he was going to stay

“Comfortable.” Lacy asked when she walked back into her room and saw Max laying on the side of the bed closer to the door.

“Close…come join me”

She stood there for a minute just looking at him trying to figure out what was going on his head. He always had something going on in his head..

“Lacy come on….I just want to hold you for a while longer…like until you fall asleep”

She still wasn’t sure if he was planning anything but she felt her feet moving toward him before she made her mind up. She got into her spot in bed on her side because that was how she always slept and she felt Max slide in under the covers behind her and wrap one arm under her pillow and the other around her waist.

“Just until I fall asleep right”

“mmmhmmm” he mumbled into her hair where he had place his head.

She felt so safe she fell right to sleep. Not even thinking about what her boyfriend had planned.

She woke up in the morning in the same spot and position she fell asleep in which didn’t happen often and it was then that she felt the arm around her. She slightly panicked but she remembered that Max had said he was going to stay until she fell asleep. She wanted to be mad because he had planned something but she felt so comfortable in his arms that she couldn’t be mad at him.

His grip around her waist was light enough that she was able to move onto her back and look at him. She couldn’t help but reach out and lightly rub her hand down his face. She was him kind of open his eyes and look at her. He just smiled.

“I thought you said until I fell asleep.”

“I must have dozed off”

“Sure” Lacy said laughing and made a move to get up. She had to be at work by 7:30 to make sure that everything was ready for the day.

“What time is it”

“Almost 6:30”

“God why are you awake so early”

“I have to go to work Max…”

Max rolled over he wanted to go back to sleep but he knew that wasn’t an option. He laid there and watch Lacy make her way into the bathroom. He rolled on to his back and stretched out and smile his plan worked and she wasn’t mad. He could see many more sleepovers in their future. It was then that he got an idea. But in the mean time he got up and headed out into the kitchen to be greeted by Lana in the kitchen.

“HOLY SHIT” Lana jumped out of her skin,

Lacy came running into the room in just her towel “What is it Lana”

Max just turned around and lost his breath when he saw Lacy standing there in nothing but a towel.

“Him…is what it is” Lana said

That brought Max back…he was getting sick of her attitude. He knew he messed up but Lacy and him had started over..

“Lana. I get that you don’t like me because of what I did…but for the love of god I was 15. We have started over so just get over it”

Lacy stood there still in her towel shocked at what had just happened. Even though Lana had said that she would be there no matter what Lana wouldn’t stop and Lacy was getting sick of it. What Max had just done though was amazing and made her feel great….maybe he was serious about this…

Max walked back toward Lacy and kissed her on the cheek. “Go finish getting ready and I’ll take you to work”

Lacy followed Max back toward her room “ How am I going to get home”

“I’ll come get you…I want to cook you dinner”

Lacy just smiled “Don’t you mean Vero is making dinner” she really couldn’t just help herself. The last time she had seen Vero and told her the news Vero spilled the beans about the call she got before that first dinner.

Max just stood there staring at her… “Ummmm”

Lacy walked up to him and kissed him. “It’s ok I can help with dinner” and made her way back into the bathroom to finish getting ready but dinner wasn’t Max was thinking about after she had walked up to him in just a towel and kissed him.

“Merde” he looked down and noticed the erection through his sweatpants and he couldn’t do anything about it at the moment. This plan has to work as he sat on the bed and tried to think of anything that would make little Max go back to sleep.

Chapter 14

Lacy’s POV

I can’t lie things with Max are well good…well as good as they can be. I am not really sure of everything yet. But I know I like having him around how could I not. We had spent pretty much every night together for the past week or so. I guess we were and official couple. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face as I made my way back to the desk I used for charts and stuff…sure enough Erin was standing there smiling at me.

“So what has you all happy”

“Nothing” but I kept smiling even I wasn’t going to let her ruin my day.

“You got laid didn’t you”

“No and that is none of your business”

“O come on girls talk about these things”

“I don’t”

Erin just walked back to her side of the desk she was working with one of the other doctors today. Actually now that I think about it she hasn’t been working with Dr. Smithe lately. She probably slept with him just like she did with Max. So much for my good mood. I really don’t think I like her very much.

Around lunch some flowers came back in my direction.

“Lacy more flowers for you”

I just smiled this time I knew who they were from.

How does spaghetti sound. -Max-

Ok not the note that I was expecting but o well…It made me smile. That note was just like Max. However what I didn’t expect was what happened next. I looked up and saw Max walking toward me.

“What are you doing here”

“Thought we could go to lunch to” I could tell something was bothering him but I didn’t want to push it. I just wanted to get out of here before Erin saw him…with me.

Max’s POV

Step One send flowers…well actually I am bringing her flowers and take her to lunch. I was going to sweep her off her feet so she couldn’t say no to me. Plus I had a hard day at rehab they told me it was going to be at least another week before I would be on skates.

I scribbled the note really fast. I wanted to throw her off a bit so I asked her if spaghetti was going to be good for dinner and then made my way into the office.

I had them send the flowers first and then when the nurse at the front saw that the last patient had left she said I could go on back to where Lacy should be working.

This was the greatest plan ever or so I thought.

“What are you doing here?”

She didn’t look that excited to see me what changed from this morning?

“Thought we could go to lunch to”

I walked to where she was standing and tried to kiss her but she turned her head away from…What did I do.

“OK but lets go”

I was so lost. But I just went along with and started to follow her out when I heard my name and I saw Lacy freeze in her tracks. I turned around to see another nurse standing there. I didn’t know who she was…was I supposed to.

“Max…what are you doing here?”

“Ummmm”

“Erin..Remember that night after you guys got back with the cup.”

“ummmm” I turned to look at Lacy who was just standing there. I couldn’t tell if she was mad. I really hope she’s not mad.

“ O well I don’t really expect you to remember but it was great.” I felt myself grab Lacy’s hand and squeeze it I didn’t want to lose her because of this.

“Let’s Go Lacy” I still had a hold on her hand. God please don’t let her drop my hand or for me to have to pull her out of here. Thank God she turned with me and walked with me.

Max and Lacy made their way out of the office and to Max’s car. As soon as they got in the car Lacy let her head rest against the window. She really just wanted this day to be over.

“Lacy” Max didn’t know what to say…he knew his plan had not gone right. He just hoped that he could save it.

“I know you know that well I wasn’t exactly a great guy and I…”

“Max just stop please. I know you slept with her.”

“YOU DO” Max’s eyes opened wide.

“Yea. That first day with Vero in the diner before you and Marc showed up Vero and I was talking. I had met Katie the night before and I guess I didn’t hide my reaction well. She told me some things how you guys weren’t serious and you weren’t serious about anything other than hockey. That was when I started to figure out what she meant. When I got back to work that day I couldn’t help it. I googled you and I figured it out. You were never serious with girls. Erin saw me looking at it. She told me that you two had …well..”

“So that is why you looked that way when I walked in.”

“Yes. She hasn’t stopped talking about the Pens and how hot everyone is since the first day I was there and met Nathalie that was how I got invited to the party.

“Lacy. I know I haven’t exactly been a real stand up man when it comes to that part of my life but please trust me. I am not going to leave you”

She just looked at him and smiled.. Sure he had said it before a lot in fact especially lately when Lacy would stop everything but this honestly was the first time she believed him.

They went on to lunch. Lacy didn’t want it to end. She wasn’t going to let other people decide her mood. In fact she was seriously considering calling into work and taking the rest of the afternoon off. While Max was taking care of the check at the counter Lacy did just that. She wanted to spend some time with Max and just him. She had a plan of her own.

“You ready to head back to work”

“Actually we have a really slow afternoon and they said that I could take the rest of the day off so I am all yours.”

Max looked at her. He couldn’t help but think something was up but he put it off and led her to his car and back to his place. Good thing he pretty much had everything set up for the night. He would be able to keep her busy hopefully so he could set the mood he wanted. Lucky for him not long after they got to his place and sat down she fell asleep on the couch. This was his chance.

Lacy awoke to the smell of garlic and spaghetti sauce and walked into the kitchen to see Max staring down at a cookbook and started to laugh.

“What is so funny” Max turned around to see Lacy standing there in her tank top and scrub bottoms. He lost his thoughts…god she was beautiful.

“You…what are you trying to do.”

“Making garlic bread”

“Really…Would you like some help”

Max really wanted to do this for her but he wanted to make some finishing touches on his romantic night after dinner.

“Max everything is ready”

Max walked back out and kissed Lacy. They sat down to dinner and talked about anything and everything she finally got Max to talk about his arm and how he couldn’t wait to get back. She couldn’t wait either because she hadn’t seen him play in forever. She convinced him that they should go to the next game just to watch she wanted to remind herself about the game. After dinner Max disappeared into the room and left Lacy standing there in the kitchen taking care of the dishes. She turned around and saw Max standing there.

“What are you up to.”

“Just come with me”

“Max..”

“Come on” He didn’t give her time to think and he led her toward the room. She saw light flickering.

“I think you need a new light bulb”

“Shhh” and he put his hand over her eyes so she couldn’t see anything until he wanted to her. They got into his room and he removed his hand and Lacy was blown away there were flower petals and candles everywhere. He took her breath away just like when he kissed her again for the first time a few weeks ago.

Max walked around so that he was facing her and wrapped his arms around her and gently kissed her.

“Lacy I want tonight to be just about you and me. I just want to be with you.”
